Brook Lopez set to return for Stanford

Dec 19, 2007 - 2:20 PM Santa Clara (7-3) at No. 25 Stanford (8-1) 10:30 pm EST

PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) - Sophomore forward Brook Lopez is set to return as No. 25 Stanford hosts Santa Clara on Wednesday.

A member of the Pac-10's All-Freshman team last season, the 7-foot Lopez was ruled academically ineligible on October 5 and missed the first nine games of the season.

Lopez has been practicing with the team and is expected to make his return for the Cardinals, who have won four straight games.

Anthony Goods is scoring 13.0 points per game to lead Stanford, while Brook's twin brother Robin Lopez is averaging 11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds.

Stanford, which has not played since a 67-43 victory at Colorado on December 2, will have to shake off the rust quickly against the Broncos, who defeated the Cardinals last season.

Santa Clara is led by 6-10, 305-pound John Bryant, who is averaging 20.0 points and 8.6 rebounds. The junior has recorded three double-doubles on the season, including a 14-points, 12-rebound performance in Monday's win over Montana.

Stanford leads the all-time series, 48-26.
