Marquette look to remain perfect at home vs. Coppin State

Dec 21, 2007 - 5:59 PM Coppin St (3-8) at No. 13 Marquette (8-1) 8:30 pm EST

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Dominic James and Marquette figure to remain perfect at home against road-weary Coppin State.

James and the 13th-ranked Golden Eagles shoot for their fifth straight win Friday when they host Coppin State.

Marquette has been outstanding since losing to Duke in the final of the Maui Invitational on November 21, winning each of its last four games by an average margin of 23.8 points.

After a slow first half against IPFW on Monday, Marquette shot over 61 percent (19-of-31) from the floor over the course of the final 20 minutes en route to a 51-point second half to down the Mastodons, 80-56.

James - the Golden Eagles' leading scorer - and Wesley Matthews spurred the rout, combining for 32 points in the win.

Four players finished with 11 or more points for Marquette, continuing the Golden Eagles' trend of placing at least that many players in double figures in each of the team's nine games this season.

Coppin State has been off since getting routed, 66-34, on Saturday by Dayton.

Tywain McKee scored 12 points and Vince Goldsberry had 10 for Coppin State, which shot only 31 percent (14-for-45) from the field.

Marquette has won all four meetings between the schools.
