UCSB is off to its best start in 19 years and the second-best in school history, outdone only by the 1988-89 team that started 11-0. Senior guard Alex Harris is averaging 23.4 points for the Gauchos, who are riding an eight-game winning streak.

UCSB's only loss came at Stanford, 67-48, on November 11.

In the only other meeting between the school, North Carolina coasted to an 83-66 victory during the 2005-06 campaign.
