Sizzling Villanova looks to top century mark yet again

Dec 22, 2007 - 2:28 PM Columbia (4-6) at No. 16 Villanova (8-1) 7:00 pm EST

VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) - In the midst of one of the best offensive stretches in school history, No. 16 Villanova takes on Columbia on Saturday.

Villanova has reached 100 points in its last two games, including a 103-75 victory over Hartford on December 14. The Wildcats, who also posted a 101-93 win over Temple five days earlier, have not reached the century mark in three straight games since the 1969-70 season.

While they are fourth in the Big East Conference in scoring at 82.6 points per game, the Wildcats are surrendering 70.8 points - good for 13th in the league.

Villanova is facing a Columbia team that averages just 61.1 points to rank seventh in the eight-team Ivy League.

The Lions have been off since an 83-64 win over St. Francis (NY) on December 10. Ben Nwachukwu led the way, collecting 21 points and 16 rebounds.
