Arizona tries to rebound from poor offensive performance

Dec 22, 2007 - 2:53 PM San Diego St (9-2) at No. 19 Arizona (8-2) 3:00 pm EST

TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Even though some teams can overlook an opponent prior to a upcoming contest against a highly-ranked opponent, don't expect Arizona to fall victim to that tendency.

Coming off their worst offensive performance of the season, the 19th-ranked Wildcats will attempt to win their sixth straight game when they host San Diego State on Saturday.

With a road game next Saturday against No. 2 Memphis on the horizon, it is unlikely Arizona will overlook the Aztecs after it struggled to post a 52-49 win over Nevada-Las Vegas on Wednesday.

The Wildcats set season lows in points and field goal percentage (34.6) on 18-of-52 shooting from the field. Those marks were dramatic departures from their regular averages - 75.7 points per-game and 49 percent shooting.

Jordan Hill had 16 points and a career-high 19 rebounds in the win for the Wildcats, who own an 18-5 record all-time against the Aztecs.

San Diego State is coming off an 86-76 win over Navy on Monday. The Aztecs are off to their best start at the Division I level in 38 seasons.

Last season, San Diego State defeated Air Force and Brigham Young, which both were ranked at the time.
