Washington St. looks to remain undefeated
Dec 28, 2007 - 2:13 PM NC A&T (5-7) at No. 4 Washington St (11-0) 10:00 pm ESTPULLMAN, Washington (Ticker) - Fourth-ranked Washington State tires to extend its winning steak to 12 games when North Carolina A&T comes calling on Friday.
Holding the highest ranking in school history, the red-hot Cougars are off to their best start since the 1991-92 team begin the season 12-0. Washington State's best start is owned by the 1914-15 squad that went 17-0 to open a campaign.
The Cougars shouldn't have much of a challenge in this one as they prepare to open the Pac-10 Conference season against in-state rival Washington on January 5.
Last time out, Derrick Low scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half to help Washington State roll to a 75-45 victory over Idaho State on Sunday.
"It's always good for a shooter to knock down his first few shots," Low said. "Because you get that confidence and you tend to be a little more aggressive. And you also look for your shot a little more."
Austin Ewing scored 14 points and Steven Rush added 13 for North Carolina A&T during Sunday's 95-64 loss to Miami.
