BYU faces Boise State looking for fourth straight win

Dec 29, 2007 - 2:20 PM No. 21 BYU (10-2) at Boise St (8-3) 9:00 pm EST

BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) - No. 21 Brigham Young might have the nation's longest home winning streak, but that won't help the Cougars on Saturday with a game at Boise State.

BYU is 2-0 on the road this year, but is 17-36 away from home against non-conference teams since the start of the 1996-97 campaign. The Cougars have not won three road games against non-conference opponents since the 1999-2000 season.

BYU has won three straight, including a 70-55 home victory over Southern Utah on December 21. The Cougars lead the all-time series, 8-3, and have won the last four meetings.

Trent Plaisted, a 6-foot-11 junior forward/center, averages 17.4 points and 9.8 rebounds for BYU. Lee Cummard, a 6-7 junior guard, averages 15.2 points. Sophomore forward Jonathan Tavenari has started nine games and averages 14.5 points.

The Broncos have won seven of their last eight games, including a 74-68 victory at Albany last Saturday. Boise State has lost three consecutive games against teams ranked in the top 25.

A trio of seniors leads the Broncos in scoring. Forward Reggie Larry averages 18.9 points, center Matt Nelson averages 14.8 points and forward Tyler Tiedeman 11.9. Larry averages 8.5 rebounds and Nelson 8.2.
