Clemson looks to bounce back against Samford

CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) - Coming off its first loss of the season, No. 20 Clemson looks to bounce back on Saturday against Samford.

The Tigers haven't played since last Saturday's 85-82 loss to Mississippi in the championship game of the San Juan Shootout. Clemson has beaten the Bulldogs in each of the previous meetings, the last coming in the 1990-91 season.

Four Clemson players average double figures, led by junior swingman K.C. Rivers at 16.1 points. Senior guard Cliff Hammonds is the other player averaging double figures who has started every game at 11.3 points.

Freshman guard Terrence Oglesby averages 12.3 points off the bench and senior forward James Mays, who returned to face Ole Miss after a five-game absence due to injury, averages 12.3 points.

Samford, which started the season 3-0, hasn't played since a 65-64 victory over Murray State on December 20.

Senior center Travis Peterson and senior guard Joe Ross Merritt are each averaging a team-high 14 points per game for the Bulldogs. Sophomore guard Trey Montgomery averages 11.3 points for Samford.
