Indiana hosts Chicago State seeking seventh straight win

Dec 29, 2007 - 2:49 PM Chicago State (4-11) at No. 14 Indiana (10-1) 7:00 pm EST

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) - Freshman sensation Eric Gordon and No. 14 Indiana go for their seventh straight win on Saturday against Chicago State.

Gordon scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half last Saturday as Indiana overcame a dismal first half to claim a 73-46 victory over Coppin State. The Hoosiers shot just 28 percent in the first half - 12.5 percent from 3-point range - as Gordon missed all six of his shots in the first half.

However, Gordon and Indiana responded in the second half, outscoring Coppin State 45-20 to turn a two-point halftime lead into a 27-point drubbing.

D.J. White was held to just two shots in the first half, but finished with 21 points and eight rebounds on 8-of-9 shooting. White had posted six straight double-doubles before having his streak snapped against Coppin State, but he still leads the Hoosiers with 9.2 rebounds and is second in scoring with 16 points per game.

White should bounce back against Chicago State after scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead the Hoosiers to a 90-69 victory over the Cougars last season.

If Indiana wants to duplicate its performance against Chicago State from last season, it will have to limit leading-scorer David Holston.

The junior guard scored 23 points against the Hoosiers last season and is averaging 22.7 points per contest this season. Holston is also tops in the nation, making almost five 3-pointers per game.
