Kansas looks to remain unbeaten against Yale

Dec 29, 2007 - 2:51 PM Yale (3-6) at No. 3 Kansas (12-0) 8:00 pm EST

LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) - Off to its best start in three seasons, No. 3 Kansas looks to remain undefeated when it hosts Yale on Saturday.

Kansas has won its first 12 games for the first time since starting 14-0 during the 2004-05 season. Their record also marks the 10th time in school history that the Jayhawks have opened a campaign 12-0.

Darrell Arthur and Darnell Jackson each scored 14 points as the Jayhawks shot a blistering 58 percent from the field en route to a 78-54 victory over Miami-Ohio last Saturday. Kansas was the first team to score 70 points or more against the Redhawks since Ohio accomplished the feat on March 9, 2006.

"It was a crisp offensive performance to be honest," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "We did some good things. We made them look not as good as they are which is always a positive when you're at home."

Arthur, who leads the team with 13.3 points while pulling down 6.1 rebounds this season, scored a season-low six points in his previous game against Ohio but responded by hitting 7-of-14 shots from the floor while grabbing 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

Yale had won back-to-back games against Fairfield and Vermont before falling, 76-67, to Boston University during their last game on December 11.

Getting back on track against Kansas won't be easy as the Jayhawks have won both meetings against Yale during their history and are 12-0 all-time against Ivy League teams.
