Miami looks to stay unbeaten vs. Winthrop

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) - No. 19 Miami has won its first 12 games for only the second time in school history and looks to remain unbeaten on Saturday against Winthrop in the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Classic.

The Hurricanes are two victories away from matching their best start ever, achieved in the 2001-02 season.

Miami leads the all-time series with the Eagles, 2-1, but the teams haven't faced each other since the 1995-96 season.

Junior guard Jack McClinton leads the Hurricanes at 14.4 points per game and sophomore guard James Dews averages 11.8 points. Senior catcher Anthony King averages 8.3 rebounds for Miami.

Winthrop's 62-59 victory over Old Dominion on December 21 snapped a two-game losing streak. Senior guard Michael Jenkins and senior forward Taj McCullough each average 14.5 points for the Eagles.
