Stanford faces Fresno State looking for seventh straight win
Dec 29, 2007 - 3:34 PM Fresno St (7-5) at No. 22 Stanford (10-1) 5:00 pm ESTSTANFORD, California (Ticker) - No. 22 Stanford looks for its seventh consecutive victory on Saturday when the Cardinal close out non-conference play against Fresno State.
Stanford leads the all-time series, 7-1, and has won the last seven meetings against the Bulldogs.
The Cardinal, who open Pac-10 play on Thursday against No. 5 UCLA, are looking to match a streak last accomplished in the 2003-04 season. Stanford is coming off a 62-61 victory over Texas Tech in Dallas last Saturday.
Three Cardinal starters are averaging double figures, led by junior guard Anthony Goods at 12.5 points per game. Robin Lopez, a 7-foot sophomore center, averages 10.8 points and 6.4 rebounds.
Junior forward Lawrence Hill averages 10.2 points.
Fresno State has won two straight, including a 75-58 victory over Pacific last Saturday. Saturday's game kicks off a three-game road trip for the Bulldogs, who haven't played at Stanford in more than 50 years.
Fresno State has four starters averaging double figures, including senior guard Kevin Bell at 17.7 points per game and senior guard Eddie Miller at 13.6.
