Texas A&M shoots for fifth consecutive victory

Dec 29, 2007 - 3:59 PM Florida A&M (3-7) at No. 11 Texas A&M (11-1) 2:00 pm EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) - It's been more than four years since No. 11 Texas A&M lost a non-conference game at home.

Florida A&M will be hard pressed to change that on Saturday when they visit Texas A&M.

The Aggies haven't played since last Saturday's 88-66 win over UC Irvine, their fourth straight victory. Texas A&M is 32-1 in its last 33 home games.

Junior forward Josh Carter and senior forward Joseph Jones are the only players averaging double figures for the Aggies, but Texas A&M is scoring 78 points per game with an average margin of 19.3 points. Carter averages 13.1 points and Jones 11 points for the Aggies.

DeAndre Jordan, a 7-foot freshman center for Texas A&M, leads the nation in field goal accuracy at 79.7 percent (51-for-64). Senior guard Dominique Kirk will make his 109th consecutive start on Saturday for the Aggies, tying the Big 12 record set by Aaron Miles of Kansas (2001-05). At 52.5 percent, Texas A&M leads the nation in field goal accuracy.

The Rattlers had 21 victories last season, but have only three wins in their first 10 games under new coach Eugene Harris. Florida A&M has lost four of its last five games and hasn't played since a 87-60 loss to Kansas State on December 17.

Senior guard Leslie Robinson averages 11.6 points for the Rattlers. This is the first game between the two teams.
