Vanderbilt looks to tie record against UT Martin

Dec 29, 2007 - 4:06 PM UT Martin (5-7) at No. 15 Vanderbilt (11-0) 1:00 pm EST

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- No. 15 Vanderbilt will attempt to match its best start in school history against Tennessee Martin on Saturday.

The Commodores are one victory away from tying the record set by the 2003-04 team. Vanderbilt has won all four of the previous meetings with the Skyhawks, which have all been played on the Commodores' campus.

Vanderbilt opened its six-game homestand last Saturday with a 83-74 victory over Tennessee State. Senior swingman Shan Foster, who had 22 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Tigers, is averaging 20.5 points for the Commodores. Freshman center A.J. Ogilvy is averaging 19 points and 6.5 rebounds for Vanderbilt.

Tennessee Martin has lost three straight games, all of which were on the road, including last Saturday's 74-48 defeat at UNLV. Junior guard Lester Hudson is averaging 26.7 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Skyhawks.

Freshman guard Marquis Weddle is averaging 15.7 points and senior forward Gerald Robinson 15.3 for Tennessee Martin. Robinson is expected to play after serving a four-game suspension for a violation of team rules.
