Texas A&M continues homestand against Rice

Dec 31, 2007 - 12:04 PM Rice (3-7) at No. 11 Texas A&M (12-1) 2:00 pm EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- No. 11 Texas A&M continues its eight-game home stand when they host in-state rival Rice on Monday.

The Aggies have won their first five games during the stretch of home games, including an 83-54 victory over Florida A&M on Saturday. Texas A&M also has won the five games in impressive fashion, totaling a 30.8 point margin of victory.

Junior swingman Josh Carter leads the Aggies in scoring at 13.6 points and netted 20 in Saturday's win. Big men Joseph Jones and DeAndre Jordan also average in double figures at 11.1 and 10.1 points per game, respectively.

A win would tie Texas A&M's second-best start in school history, and make them 13-1 for the first time since the 1959-60 campaign. The Aggies have also won 44 straight non-conference home games.

The Owls avoided a third straight loss with a 70-65 win over TCU on Saturday.

Rice is led by junior forward Patrick Britton, who is scoring 11.3 points per game. Britton has scored in double figures in each of the last six games.

The Aggies lead the all-time series 104-81, but have not faced the Owls since a 56-53 win in 1999.
