Mississippi looks to remain unbeaten

Jan 2, 2008 - 2:11 PM Alabama A&M (3-6) at No. 18 Ole Miss (12-0) 8:00 pm EST

OXFORD, Mississippi (Ticker) - No. 18 Mississippi looks to remain unbeaten when they host Alabama A&M on Wednesday.

The Rebels are one of six teams without a loss in Division I so far this season, and are off to the best start in school history. One more win would give Mississippi its longest all-time winning streak as they are currently tied with the 1926 squad, which also had 12 straight wins.

Center Dwayne Curtis leads the team with 15.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Chris Warren is averaging 15.3 points and 5.6 assists for the Rebels, who are ranked ninth in the nation in scoring at 86.3 points per game.

The Bulldogs are currently on a three-game losing streak and haven't played since a 67-56 loss at Auburn on December 22.

Evan Hilton leads Alabama A&M in scoring at 14.0 points per game, but the Bulldogs are only averaging 64.4 points per contest.

The game is the last non-conference game for Mississippi, which opens Southeastern Conference action on January 9 at Tennessee.

The Rebels are 27-0 all-time against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
