Memphis puts home winning streak on line vs. Siena
Jan 3, 2008 - 3:11 PM Siena (7-4) at No. 2 Memphis (11-0) 9:00 pm ESTMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - The season is still young, but Chris Douglas-Roberts and No. 2 Memphis have certainly been tested.
Douglas-Roberts and the Tigers get a breather on Thursday when they look to extend the nation's longest home winning streak to 39 games vs. Siena.
Douglas-Roberts scored 17 points in a 76-63 win over No. 17 Arizona on Saturday which helped Memphis tie Brigham Young for the longest home winning streak.
The Tigers, who have beaten then-No.5 Georgetown and then-No. 24 Southern California, are still nine wins shy of matching the best start in school history of 20-0 set in 1985-86.
Memphis' three wins over ranked teams has helped make up for their notoriously soft conference schedule, which begins on January 9 vs. East Carolina.
For now though, the Tigers will focus on the Saints, who are coming off a 89-54 win over Dartmouth on Monday. Sophomore swingman Edwin Ubiles scored 13 points in the win, and is leading Siena with an average of 17.1 points.
