With defense strong as ever, Hoyas look to get Hibbert going

Jan 8, 2008 - 2:46 PM No. 8 Georgetown (11-1) at DePaul (6-7) 9:00 pm EST

CHICAGO (Ticker) - With its first conference victory in hand, No. 8 Georgetown looks to spark their big man as they head to the Allstate Arena on Tuesday to meet Big East rival DePaul.

The Hoyas (11-1, 1-0 Big East) have won four straight games since losing to the Memphis Tigers on December 22, including Saturday's 58-46 victory at Rutgers. Georgetown, who leads the nation in defensive field goal percentage, held the Scarlet Knight to a 31 percent (19-for-61) shooting performance.

However, the play of Roy Hibbert is not one of the reasons Georgetown is thriving lately.

After bursting onto the college basketball scene with 13 points and seven rebounds per game averages last season, the 7-2 center has struggled in 2007-08, averaging 11.6 points and six boards this season, including 8.8 points and 4.2, respectively, over the last six contests.

The Blue Demons (6-7, 2-0) limped through their non-season schedule, going just 4-7, but has stepped up their play in conference play, recording home wins over Villanova on Thursday and Providence on Saturday.

Freshman Dar Tucker scored 15 points off the bench to help cover for leading scorer Draelon Burns, who scored just eight points in Saturday's triumph.
