Indiana continues Big Ten play against struggling Michigan

Jan 8, 2008 - 2:48 PM No. 11 Indiana (12-1) at Michigan (4-10) 7:00 pm EST

ANN ARBOR, Michigan (Ticker) - The last time Michigan and Indiana played, the Wolverines snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Hoosiers.

When No. 11 Indiana faces Michigan in a Big Ten Conference matchup on Tuesday, the Hoosiers will look to extend their season-high winning streak to nine games.

Freshman sensation Eric Gordon continues to lead the way for Indiana (12-1, 1-0 Big Ten). Gordon, the first player in school history to begin his career with seven consecutive games with 20 or more points, leads the conference in scoring at 23.5 points per game.

Senior forward D.J. White is averaging 16.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and is shooting 64.5 percent (80-for-124) from the field for the Hoosiers. Freshman guard Jordan Crawford, who has made three starts in 10 games, averages 13.8 points and sophomore guard Armon Bassett averages 10.3 points for Indiana.

The first year under former West Virginia coach John Beilein has been a struggle for Michigan (4-10, 0-2), which has dropped four straight games and eight of its last nine.

The Wolverines are coming off a 65-58 conference loss on Saturday at Purdue, a game in which Michigan cut a 14-point deficit at halftime down to two but couldn't complete the comeback.

Freshman guard Manny Harris leads the Wolverines in scoring on the season at 16.4 points per game, but is averaging 20.5 in Big Ten play. Sophomore forward DeShawn Sims is averaging 13.6 points for Michigan.
