Michigan State faces Purdue seeking 11th straight win

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) - No. 6 Michigan State goes for its 11th straight win when it hosts Purdue on Tuesday.

The Spartans (13-1, 1-0 Big Ten) started conference play on a high note during their last game on Saturday. Raymar Morgan scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Michigan State to a 65-59 victory over Minnesota.

The sophomore Morgan is averaging a team-high 18.4 points this season and has scored in double figures in each of his last 18 games dating back to last season - the longest current streak in the Big Ten.

Morgan was named the Big Ten's player of the week after his performance against Minnesota and was the first Spartan since Morris Peterson in 2000 to score 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game.

Purdue (10-4, 1-0) opened conference play with a win for the first time since 2003, claiming a 65-58 triumph over Michigan on Saturday.

Keaton Grant scored 17 points and hit a career-high five 3-pointers in the victory as the Boilermakers picked up their third straight win.

Although Purdue leads the all-time series, 60-42, against Michigan State, it has lost 13 of the last 18 meetings.
