No. 25 Xavier looks for sixth consecutive victory
Jan 12, 2008 - 1:55 PM Fordham (6-7) at No. 25 Xavier (13-3) 12:00 pm ESTCINCINNATI (Ticker) -- No. 25 Xavier will put a five-game winning streak on the line on Saturday in an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup with Fordham.
The Muskeeters (13-3, 1-0 Atlantic 10) opened conference play Wednesday with an easy 83-68 home win over St. Bonaventure.
Six players average double figures for the Muskeeters, three of which have started in every game. Senior guard Drew Lavender (12.5 ppg), sophomore forward Derrick Brown (11.2) and senior guard Stanley Burrell (11.1) have made 16 starts for Xavier.
The Rams (6-7, 0-1) have dropped two straight, including a 74-62 loss at Duquesne on Wednesday.
Senior forward Bryant Dunston leads the Rams in scoring in rebounding, averaging 15.3 points and 8.5 boards. Senior guard Marcus Stout averages 14.1 points and sophomore guard Brenton Butler 11.9.
In the teams' only meeting last season, Xavier set a school-record with 15 3-pointers in a 15-point road victory.
