Youthful Villanova visits Cincinnati

Jan 12, 2008 - 3:01 PM No. 17 Villanova (11-2) at Cincinnati (7-8) 7:00 pm EST

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- There might not be any seniors to lean on, but that hasn't stopped No. 17 Villanova from getting off to another strong start.

The youthful Wildcats host Cincinnati on Saturday in a Big East Conference matchup.

Villanova (11-2, 1-1 Big East) received plenty of production from its reserves in a 64-63 win over then-No. 13 Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Wildcats received 39 points from their reserves.

The Wildcats receive an average of 55.4 points and 19.1 rebounds from freshmen and sophomores. Villanova's bench is averaging 23.8 points and 8.5 rebounds.

Balance on offense has been key for Villanova as four starters average between 11 and 16 points, led by sophomore guard Scottie Reynolds at 15.5.

The Bearcats (7-8, 2-1) have been a model of inconsistency. Cincinnati started 4-2, then dropped five straight games before winning its next two. The Bearcats are coming off a 74-66 home victory over Syracuse on Wednesday.

Sophomore guard Deonta Vaughn is the lone Cincinnati player averaging double figures at 16.8 points per game.

Villanova is 3-0 all-time against Cincinnati.
