Clemson hopes to end losing streak

Jan 12, 2008 - 3:06 PM Florida St (12-4) at No. 19 Clemson (12-3) 7:00 pm EST

CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) -- No. 19 Clemson will look to avoid a three-game losing streak on Saturday when its hosts Florida State.

Clemson (12-3, 0-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) ended its non-conference schedule on Wednesday with a 82-72 loss to Charlotte.

"I don't think we could've faced them at a better time," Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz said. "But give us credit. We had to do the work."

The defeat came on the heels of a 90-88 overtime loss at home to undefeated and top-ranked North Carolina in the Tigers' ACC opener Sunday.

Junior swingman K.C. Rivers leads the Tigers at 15.9 points per game, but scored only six in the loss to the 49ers.

The Seminoles (12-4, 1-0) have won two straight, closing out their non-conference schedule with an 81-76 triumph over LaSalle last Saturday. Florida State has won nine of its last 11 games.

Junior guard Toney Douglas leads five Seminoles averaging double figures at 13.8 points per game.

Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton needs one win for his 100th with the Seminoles and 300th career.
