Wisconsin looks to maintain perfect record in Big Ten play

Jan 15, 2008 - 2:59 PM No. 21 Wisconsin (13-2) at Penn State (10-5) 9:00 pm EST

STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania (Ticker) - No. 21 Wisconsin tries to remain unbeaten in Big Ten Conference play when it visits Penn State on Tuesday.

The Badgers (13-2, 3-0 Big Ten) and Indiana are the only teams yet to lose in conference play.

Led by sophomore Trevon Hughes' 22 points, Wisconsin downed Illinois, 70-60, on Thursday. The 6-1 guard also matched career highs in both steals (six) and assists (five) to help the Badgers win their seventh consecutive game.

As usual, Wisconsin continues to rely on its defense, which allows a conference-low 54.3 points per game on 38 percent shooting from the field - the second-lowest mark in the Big Ten.

Penn State (10-5, 2-1) is among the better offensive teams in the conference, averaging 71.4 points.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a 76-73 home loss to Minnesota on Saturday. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak which was the Nittany Lions' longest since 2000-01.
