No. 24 Miami takes rare road trip to face Boston College

Jan 16, 2008 - 12:48 AM No. 24 Miami Fl (14-1) at Boston College (11-4) 9:00 pm EST

CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Off to one of the best starts in school history because of its ability to win at home, Miami will see how it takes to the road in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The 24th-ranked Hurricanes will leave the state of Florida for the first time in over a month and attempt to end a 12-game losing streak when they face Boston College on Tuesday.

Miami (14-1, 1-0 ACC) last played on the road on December 13 and are a perfect 11-0 at BankUnited Center. The one time the Hurricanes did not play in Coral Gables over the past month they were defeated by Winthrop, 76-70, in Sunrise, Florida.

Miami has won two straight contests since that setback, however, including a 78-68 victory in its conference opener against Georgia Tech on Saturday. Sophomore guard James Dews scored a career-high 20 points.

A win over Boston College (11-4, 2-0) would end a seven-game conference road losing streak and give the Hurricanes their best start in school history. Of course, that figures to be easier said than done as the Eagles haven't lost to the Hurricanes since January 2000.

Boston College snapped a two-game slide with an impressive 112-73 trouncing of Wake Forest on Saturday. Tyrese Rice, the ACC's second-leading scorer, had 32 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the rout.
