Duke visits Florida State looking for second ACC win

Jan 16, 2008 - 2:57 PM No. 5 Duke (13-1) at Florida State (12-5) 7:00 pm EST

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Ticker) - After opening conference play with a victory, No. 5 Duke looks move to 2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference when it visits Florida State on Wednesday.

DeMarcus Nelson scored 20 points and Gerald Henderson added 18 to lead Duke (13-1, 1-0) to a 87-65 triumph over Virginia on Sunday, its third straight victory.

Nelson, who is averaging a team-high 14.1 points per game this season, has scored 20 or more points in three of his last five games while hitting 11-of-20 3-pointers over that span. Henderson, meanwhile, is tied with freshman Kyle Singler for second on the team with 13.0 points per game.

After finishing last season with a 22-13 record, Florida State (12-5, 1-1) has been one of the surprise teams of 2007-08, especially after a decisive 14-point win over defending national champion and then-No. 24 Florida on November 23.

However, the Seminoles have lost their last two games against ranked opponents. Following an 11-point setback to then-No. 19 Butler on December 15, Florida State lost its last game, 97-85, to then-No. 19 Clemson on Saturday.

Uche Echefu scored 24 points against Clemson to lead five players in double-figures. The junior forward is third on the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game - almost two points behind leading-scorer Toney Douglas, who is averaging 13.9 points.
