Georgetown looks to rebound against Notre Dame

Jan 19, 2008 - 4:36 PM Notre Dame (13-3) at No. 6 Georgetown (13-2) 12:00 pm EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - Sixth-ranked Georgetown tries to rebound from its first Big East Conference loss when it hosts Notre Dame on Saturday.

Georgetown (13-2, 3-1 Big East), which is tied with Syracuse as the conference's best shooting team at 51.1 percent, shot just 44 percent (23-of-52), including 15 percent (3-of-20) from the arc in Monday's 69-60 loss to No. 16 Pittsburgh.

It was a poor performance by the Big East's second-best 3-point shooting team at 40 percent, trailing only the Fighting Irish, who hit 42 percent of their shots from the arc on the season.

Notre Dame's proficiency from the arc only helps to accentuate the inside game of sophomore forward Luke Harangody, who leads the conference in scoring with 19.3 points per game and is fourth in rebounding with 9.6 boards per contest.

Harangody, who already has eight double-doubles this season, recorded 25 points and seven rebounds in Notre Dame's 91-74 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday.

While Notre Dame has won a school record 31 straight games at home, it was routed in its only road game of the season. The Fighting Irish suffered a 92-66 loss at Marquette on January 12.
