No. 21 Villanova looks for first Big East road win

Jan 19, 2008 - 1:51 PM No. 21 Villanova (12-3) at Syracuse (13-5) 12:00 pm EST

SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) - No. 21 Villanova aims for its first Big East Conference road win of the season Saturday at Syracuse.

The Wildcats (12-3, 2-2 Big East) have followed road losses with home wins in their first four conference games. Villanova trailed by as many as 16 points at home on Wednesday against DePaul before a 15-0 run resulted in a 76-69 victory.

The Orange (13-5, 3-2) are 3-0 at home in conference play, winning by an average of 13.3 points. Syracuse, like Villanova, is winless on the road in conference games.

The Orange are coming off an 81-59 victory over Rutgers on Wednesday.

"I think you have teams all the way up and down that get you on their home court and can win," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. "In the past you might have had three or four teams that were good enough to hold their home court. Now really everybody is. I think it will continue to be difficult."

Sophomore guard Scottie Reynolds leads the Wildcats in scoring at 17.0 points per game.

Freshman forward Donte Greene is averaging 18.9 points and 7.9 rebounds for the Orange, who are getting 84.7 percent their scoring from underclassmen.

Syracuse leads the all-time series, 33-26. The teams have split their last six meetings.
