Marquette looks to rebound against Connecticut

Jan 20, 2008 - 2:31 PM No. 13 Marquette (13-3) at Connecticut (11-5) 1:00 pm EST

STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The first contest of 13th-ranked Marquette's two-game road swing was rough in more ways than one.

The Golden Eagles look to bounce back - possibly without their leading scorer - when they visit Connecticut in a Big East Conference matchup Sunday afternoon.

Marquette (13-3, 3-2 Big East) dropped a 71-51 decision at Louisville on Thursday, losing guard Dominic James to a wrist injury in the second half. The junior, who is averaging 14.1 points, stayed on the bench and his status for Sunday is unknown.

"He couldn't have gone back into the game," Marquette coach Tom Crean said. "We'll talk about it when we get on the plane, where we go next with the injury. It's probably just a re-aggravation of his injury from last week. He just landed on it wrong, it was a tough play in the lane."

The Golden Eagles also did not make a 3-pointer in the loss to the Cardinals, snapping a streak of 228 straight games. Marquette shot 30 percent (17-of-56) for the game.

The Huskies (11-5, 2-3) have dropped two straight, including a 77-65 decision to Providence on Thursday. Coach Jim Calhoun was on the bench after missing the past game with an illness.

Jeff Adrien had 16 points and 15 rebounds in the loss and leads the team, averaging 14.5 points.
