Jan 23, 2008 - 2:25 PM No. 18 Villanova (13-3) at Rutgers (8-11) 7:00 pm EST

PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- No. 18 Villanova would like nothing better to keep Rutgers right where it is - at the bottom of the Big East Conference standings.

The Wildcats (13-3, 3-2 Big East) go into Wednesday's game with the Scarlet Knights (8-11, 0-6) aiming for their third straight win.

The Wildcats are coming off an 81-71 win at Syracuse on Saturday, led by 25 points, six rebounds and four steals from sophomore guard Scottie Reynolds. Villanova's top scorer is averaging 17.5 points on the season.

Rutgers comes into the contest on a six-game losing streak, all in the conference. The Scarlet Knights are a dismal 1-7 on the road, but are a respectable 7-4 at home this season.

The Scarlet Knights haven't lost seven consecutive games since dropping their first eight conference contests in the 2000-01 season.

Rutgers is coming off a 75-73 loss at DePaul on Saturday. Junior forward JR Inman, who averages 14.5 points to lead the team, scored 14 against the Blue Demons.

This is the second game between Villanova coach Jay Wright and former associate head coach Fred Hill, who was with the Wildcats from 2001-05. Hill took over as Rutgers coach last season and is 0-1 against Wright.

Villanova, which leads the series 23-7, has beaten Rutgers four consecutive times.
