No. 4 North Carolina looks to bounce back against Miami
Jan 23, 2008 - 2:51 PM No. 4 North Carolina (18-1) at Miami Fl (14-3) 9:00 pm ESTCORAL GABLES, Florida (Ticker) -- Coming off its first loss of the season, fourth-ranked North Carolina visits Miami in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup Wednesday.
On Saturday, North Carolina (18-1, 3-1 ACC) endured a shocking 82-80 home loss to Maryland. The loss knocked the Tar Heels out of the top spot in the national rankings.
It marked the first time the Tar Heels lost at home as the nation's No. 1 team since a 96-89 setback to Georgia Tech on February 12, 1994.
Junior forward Tyler Hansbrough leads the Tar Heels with 22.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Wayne Ellington averages 16.1 points, sophomore guard Ty Lawson 13.2 and junior swingman Danny Green 12.2.
The Hurricanes are also coming off a two-point loss, a 79-77 overtime defeat at North Carolina State on Saturday. Miami (14-3, 1-2) is 2-3 in its last five games.
Junior guard Jack McClinton is averaging 16.4 points for the Hurricanes.
North Carolina leads the all-time series, 10-2.
