Indiana looks for 30th consecutive home victory

Jan 26, 2008 - 2:18 PM Connecticut (13-5) at No. 8 Indiana (17-1) 1:00 pm EST

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) - No. 8 Indiana look to extend its home winning streak to 30 games on Saturday when it faces shorthanded Connecticut.

Indiana has won 13 consecutive games and closes out a three-game homestand against the Huskies, who rallied from a 12-point deficit with six minutes to play on Wednesday to win at Cincinnati, 84-83.

Things could be a bit easier for the Hoosiers, who will face a Huskies team who will be without a pair of players due to suspensions.

On Friday, Huskies coach Jim Calhoun indefinitely suspended starting guard Jerome Dyson and backup Doug Wiggins. Dyson is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 points.

The Hoosiers' 17-1 start is their best since the 1975-76 team posted college basketball's last perfect season at 32-0.

Freshman guard Eric Gordon is leading the Big Ten in scoring at 22.1 points per game for Indiana. Senior forward D.J. White is averaging 17.1 points and a team-high 10.2 rebounds for the Hoosiers, whose last home loss to a non-Big Ten team came against UConn on February 11, 2006.
