Duke seeking ninth straight win
Feb 2, 2008 - 12:00 PM Miami Fl (15-5) at No. 3 Duke (18-1) 3:30 pm ESTDURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) - Third-ranked Duke goes for its ninth straight victory when it hosts Miami in an Atlantic Coast Conference contest on Saturday.
The Blue Devils (18-1, 6-0 ACC) rallied for a 92-72 victory over North Carolina State on Thursday, outscoring the Wolfpack 55-26 in the second half.
Greg Paulus scored a season-high 22 points as Duke shot 57 percent (32-of-56).
Winning a ninth straight game is a strong possibility for the Blue Devils, who have won all five conference games with the Hurricanes and nine straight overall dating to 1962.
Miami (15-5, 2-4) also is 0-3 on the road in the conference this season after dropping a 70-68 decision to Wake Forest on Tuesday.
Junior Jack McClinton scored 16 points in the loss and leads the team in scoring at 16.1 points per game.
Miami is also just 3-5 overall after winning its first 12 games to start the season.
