SEC leaders meet in Starkville
Feb 2, 2008 - 12:01 PM No. 8 Tennessee (18-2) at No. 25 Mississippi St (14-6) 7:00 pm ESTSTARKVILLE, Mississippi (Ticker) - It will be matchup of Southeastern Conference Division leaders Saturday when No. 25 Mississippi State hosts eighth-ranked Tennessee.
Mississippi State (14-6, 5-1 West) had its nine-game winning streak stopped with a 78-58 loss to Tennessee on Wednesday.
It was a rare poor defensive performance for the Bulldogs, who allow just 62.2 points per game to rank first in the conference.
Tennessee (18-2, 5-1), which is tied with Florida atop in the Eastern Division, is playing on the road for the third time in its last four conference games. The Volunteers have split the first two matchups.
Tennessee is coming off an 93-86 victory on Tuesday at Alabama. The Volunteers were able to win at Alabama for the first time since 1998 despite committing a season-high 23 turnovers.
The Volunteers lead the all-time series, 72-38. Eleven of the last 15 games have been decided by eight points or less.
