Gordon, Indiana aim to continue dominance of Northwestern

Feb 3, 2008 - 2:31 PM Northwestern (7-11) at No. 11 Indiana (17-3) 12:00 pm EST

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) - Eric Gordon and No. 11 Indiana should have no problem avoiding their first three-game losing streak in two years.

Despite being banged up, Gordon is expected to be in the lineup when the Hoosiers look to continue their home dominance of Northwestern on Sunday in a Big Ten contest.

Wearing a splint on his injured wrist, Gordon scored 16 points but the Hoosiers fell, 62-49, to No. 13 Wisconsin on Thursday. Prior to that, Indiana had its 29-game home winning streak snapped in a 68-63 loss to Connecticut on Saturday.

The conference's leading scorer at 21.4 points per game, Gordon will look to help Indiana (17-3, 6-1 Big Ten) avoid losing a third straight for the first time since a five-game skid from February 4-19, 2006.

The sensational freshman guard should be able to help the Hoosiers to a 33rd straight home win over the Wildcats (7-11, 0-7), who have yet to post a conference win.

Northwestern's leading scorer, Kevin Coble bounced back from a three-point performance by scoring 29 points in a 68-59 win over Texas Pan-American on Wednesday.

The Wildcats have lost their last 10 games vs. ranked opponents since a 51-48 win over then-No. 18 Iowa on February 8, 2006.
