Tennessee goes for fourth straight win in key SEC game

Feb 5, 2008 - 3:42 PM No. 22 Florida (18-4) at No. 7 Tennessee (19-2) 9:00 pm EST

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - Seventh-ranked Tennessee looks to continue its momentum on its home floor - and stay atop the Southeastern Conference - when they host No. 22 Florida on Tuesday.

The Volunteers (19-2, 6-1 SEC East) are coming off a pair of impressive road wins at Alabama and Mississippi State last week to push their winning streak to three games.

Senior Chris Lofton, who broke the SEC career 3-pointers record earlier this season, has scored at least 20 points in four straight games. The sharp-shooter netted 20 in the Volunteers' 76-71 victory over Mississippi State on Saturday.

Despite losing all five starters from its two-time National Championship team, Florida (18-4, 5-2) has surprised many this season and is just one game back of Tennessee in the SEC.

However, the Gators did have their three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in an 80-61 setback at Arkansas.

Walter Hodge had 13 points and leading scorer Nick Calathes had 12, six rebounds and seven assists in what was Florida's worst loss of the season.

Tennessee has won three of the past four meetings with Florida, and the Volunteers are 11-0 at home this season.
