Notre Dame faces Seton Hall in key Big East game

SOUTH ORANGE, New Jersey (Ticker) - Notre Dame plays its first game of the season as a top 25 team on Wednesday at Seton Hall.

The 21st-ranked Fighting Irish (16-4, 6-2 Big East) have won three straight, including an 89-80 victory over DePaul on Saturday.

Sophomore forward Luke Harangody, named the conference's player of the week for the second time this season, had 29 points and 14 rebounds against the Blue Devils. On the season, Harangody is averaging 20.4 points and 10 rebounds.

The Pirates (15-7, 5-4) are led offensively by senior guard Brian Laing, who is averaging 19.5 points and 7.3 rebounds. Sophomore guard Eugene Harvey averages 15.7 points for Seton Hall, which had its three-game win streak snapped with a 73-61 loss at No. 6 Georgetown on Saturday.

This will be the only regular-season meeting between the teams. Notre Dame leads the all-time series, 13-7, and has won four straight. The Fighting Irish has won 14 of their last 16 games.

The current four-game win streak is the longest in the 20-game history of the series. Notre Dame's last loss to the Pirates was in East Rutherford, N.J., on February 5, 2003.
