Wisconsin can't afford to look past Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa (Ticker) - Wisconsin faces Iowa on Wednesday, looking to avoid an upset that would prevent the Badgers from challenging for the Big Ten title.

Eighth-ranked Wisconsin (18-3, 8-1) is in a battle with Purdue, Indiana and Michigan State, but can't afford to look past the Hawkeyes (11-12, 4-6). The Badgers host the Boilermakers on Saturday before visiting the Hoosiers next Wednesday.

Wisconsin has won two straight after a 10-game winning streak was snapped at Purdue. Iowa is 3-2 in its last five games, including a 53-48 home victory over Ohio State on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Trevon Hughes leads the Badgers at 13.6 points per game. Wisconsin is No. 1 nationally in scoring defense at 54.1 points per contest.

Junior guard Tony Freeman, who has played in 13 games, averages 14.6 points for the Hawkeyes. Senior guard Justin Johnson averages 13.4 points for Iowa.

The Badgers have won nine of the last 10 meetings, but Iowa still holds a 76-72 lead in the all-time series.
