No. 15 Drake puts 20-game winning streak on line

Feb 9, 2008 - 11:30 AM DES MOINES, Iowa (Ticker) -- The dream season for No. 15 Drake continues on Saturday against Evansville.

The Bulldogs (21-1, 12-0 Missouri Valley) were picked to finish ninth in the 10-team conference, but currently are riding a 20-game winning streak. Included in that winning streak is a 71-68 triumph over Evansville on January 6.

Sophomore guard Josh Young is averaging 16.2 points and senior guard Leonard Houston 14.7 for the Bulldogs, whose only winning campaign in the last 20 years was a 17-15 mark in 2006-07.

Evansville (7-15, 2-10) is 2-2 after snapping an eight-game losing streak. The Purple Aces, under first-year coach and Evansville alum Marty Simmons, are coming off a 64-56 home victory over Wichita State.

Junior forward Shy Ely is averaging 14 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Purple Aces, who are 1-9 on the road. Junior guard Jason Holsinger averages 13.3 points for Evansville.
