No. 12 Texas looks to keep pace in Big 12

AMES, Iowa (Ticker) - Looking to stay in the Big 12 Conference race, No. 12 Texas visits Iowa State on Saturday.

The Longhorns (18-4, 5-2) are tied for third place in the conference, 1 1/2 games behind Kansas.

Texans has won five of its last six games, including a 65-54 triumph at Oklahoma on Wednesday.

Sophomore guard D.J. Augustin is averaging 19.8 points and junior guard 17.5 for the Longhorns, who are 4-2 on the road this season.

Iowa State has dropped its last two games, including a 69-51 loss to No. 18 Texas A&M on Tuesday. The Cyclones (13-10, 3-5) have lost eight consecutive games against ranked opponents.

Sophomore guard Wesley Johnson averages 13.9 points, while senior center Jiri Hubalek is at 12.2 points and 7.1 rebounds for Iowa State.

Texas has won two straight against Iowa State, tying the all-time series at eight wins apiece.
