Michigan State hopes to bounce back

Feb 9, 2008 - 11:32 AM Northwestern (7-13) at No. 10 Michigan State (19-3) 7:00 pm EST

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) - Coming off a dismal performance, No. 10 Michigan State hopes to get back on track Saturday when it visits Northwestern in a Big Ten Conference matchup.

Facing a struggling Penn State team, Michigan dropped an 85-76 decision at Happy Valley last Saturday. The Spartans (19-3, 7-2) had a five-game winning streak stopped.

Michigan State is perfect at home in conference play, going 5-0.

Sophomore forward Raymar Morgan is averaging 16 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Spartans, who are going for the season sweep of the last-place Wildcats (7-13, 0-9) after a 78-62 road win on January 24.

Northwestern, which has dropped nine of its last 11 games, is just 2-7 on the road.

Sophomore forward Kevin Coble averages 15 points and 4.9 rebounds for Northwestern. The Wildcats have lost their conference games by an average of 16 points.
