Pittsburgh searching for some consistency

The Panthers (18-5, 6-4 Big East) used Ronald Ramon's 3-pointer at the buzzer to defeat West Virginia, 55-54, on Thursday. Pittsburgh is now 3-1 this season in games decided by a single point.
Junior forward Sam Young averages 17.7 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Panthers, who have alternated losses and wins in their last six games. Pittsburgh is 13-1 at home this season.
The Friars (13-10, 4-7) have lost five of their last six games, including a 64-62 loss at St. John's on Saturday. Providence shot 53.5 percent from the field (23-for-43). The Friars had been 7-0 this season in games they shot better than 50 percent.
Junior guard Jeff Xavier averages a team-high 12.4 points for Providence, 1-6 on the road.
