Indiana hosts Wisconsin in key Big Ten clash

Feb 13, 2008 - 1:44 PM No. 14 Wisconsin (19-4) at No. 12 Indiana (20-3) 7:00 pm EST

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) - Indiana gets an opportunity to avenge its only Big Ten Conference loss on Wednesday when it hosts No. 14 Wisconsin.

The 12th-ranked Hoosiers (20-3, 9-1 Big Ten) have won three straight, but are looking for their first victory against a ranked opponent. After Wednesday's game, Indiana faces No. 9 Michigan State and No. 23 Purdue.

"In November, December and January, this was kind of a slow-developing team, by anybody's standards," Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson said. "But we're starting to get better."

Freshman guard Eric Gordon is averaging a conference-best 21.3 points - just ahead of teammate D.J. White at 17.6 points - and is pulling down 10.7 rebounds per game.

The Hoosiers scored only 20 first-half points in a 62-49 road loss to the Badgers (19-4, 8-2) on January 31.

Wisconsin is coming off a 72-67 home loss to the Boilermakers on Saturday. The Badgers are second in the nation in scoring defense at 54.9 points per game. Sophomore guard Trevon Hughes leads Wisconsin at 12.7 points per game.

The game will be the 150th meeting between the two teams with Indiana holding a 93-56 advantage.
