No. 13 Xavier looks to continue run against Charlotte
Feb 13, 2008 - 1:50 PM No. 13 Xavier (20-4) at Charlotte (14-8) 7:30 pm ESTCHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) - Xavier will attempt to stay perfect against Charlotte in an Atlantic 10 Conference game on Wednesday.
Thanks to a 76-72 victory over St. Joseph's on Sunday, the 13th-ranked Muskeeters (20-4, 8-1 A-10) have a two-game lead in the conference. Xavier has won six straight overall and looks to go 5-0 against the 49ers (14-8, 5-3).
"Our focus right now is to compete for the conference championship," Muskeeters' coach Sean Miller said. "I think everybody understands the best way to do that is to be very consistent every day. We've done that the whole way through."
Senior guard Drew Lavender leads Xavier at 12.2 points per game. Senior guard Leemire Goldwire averages 19.7 points for Charlotte, 10-2 at home.
The 49ers snapped a two-game losing streak on Sunday with an 87-83 win at St. Bonaventure.
