No. 4 Tennessee looks for seventh straight win
Feb 16, 2008 - 11:29 AM No. 4 Tennessee (22-2) at Georgia (12-10) 3:00 pm ESTATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) - No team is hotter in the Southeastern Conference than No. 4 Tennessee, which takes a six-game winning streak into Saturday's game at Georgia.
The Volunteers (22-2, 9-1) bring a three-game lead in the East Division over Kentucky into the second round of games against division opponents.
Tennessee's 22-2 start is the best 24-game start in school history and the Volunteers are 9-1 in conference play for the second time in three seasons. Tennessee won the first game of the season between the teams, 85-69.
Senior guard Chris Lofton is averaging 15.3 points, senior guard JaJuan Smith 15 points and sophomore forward Tyler Smith 13.5 points for the Volunteers, who have won seven straight in the series and nine of the last 10.
The Bulldogs (12-10, 3-6) snapped a five-game losing streak Wednesday with an 82-64 home win over South Carolina.
Senior guard Sundiata Gaines leads Georgia with 14.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
