Saint Mary's looks to improve road mark vs. Loyola Marymount

Feb 16, 2008 - 11:31 AM No. 21 St Marys (21-3) at Loyola Marymount (5-20) 11:00 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - There is no doubt No. 21 Saint Mary's can win at home, but the Gaels are just .500 on the road this season.

Saint Mary's has a chance to improve on that record away from home when it visits Loyola Marymount in a West Coast Conference matchup on Saturday.

The Gaels (21-3, 8-1 WCC) are 14-0 at home this season and have won 16 consecutive games on their own court. However, Saint Mary's just evened its road record during its last game - a 54-50 victory over Santa Clara on Monday.

Tron Smith scored 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field to lead the Gaels to their fourth straight win. Smith, who is averaging just 8.8 points per game, helped pick up the offense for leading scorer Patrick Mills, who scored just nine points - his third-lowest total this season.

Loyola Marymount (5-20, 2-7) has had a dismal season and is last in the West Coast Conference.

The Lions have lost their last two games and six of their last seven, including an 83-50 setback to Gonzaga on Monday.
