Lopez, Stanford trying to get back on track

Feb 16, 2008 - 12:57 PM No. 7 Stanford (20-4) at Arizona (16-8) 3:30 pm EST

TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) - Seventh-ranked Stanford will look to bounce back when they visit Arizona in a Pac-10 Conference on Saturday.

The Cardinal had their seven-game winning streak snapped with Thursday's 72-68 overtime setback to Arizona State, despite 30 points from Brook Lopez.

"We had the opportunity to (win) it in regulation, but we missed free throws and didn't block out on rebounds like we've been doing, like we're capable of," Stanford coach Trent Johnson said. "You've got to give Arizona State credit. They played well."

Stanford (20-4, 9-3 Pac-10) aims for a season-series sweep over Arizona, which watched Lopez collect 19 points and five blocks during a 56-52 loss at home on January 17.

The Wildcats (16-8, 6-5) put an end to their two-game slide with Thursday's 83-73 triumph over California thanks to the efforts of Jerryd Bayless, who scored 33 points.

A 6-3 freshman, Bayless hopes to have a better outing against Stanford after scoring just nine points on 3-of-12 shooting in the first meeting.
