Kansas State seeks road victory vs. Baylor
Feb 23, 2008 - 12:59 PM No. 25 Kansas St (18-7) at Baylor (17-8) 8:00 pm ESTWACO, Texas (Ticker) -- If Kansas State wants to advance in the NCAA Tournament, it has to learn how to win on the road.
The 25th-ranked Wildcats look to pick up their first win away from home since January 23 when they visit Baylor in a Big 12 Conference clash Saturday.
The Wildcats (18-7, 8-3 Big 12) endured their third straight loss on the road Wednesday, suffering a 71-64 setback to Nebraska.
Kansas State freshman sensation Michael Beasley was held to just 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, falling short of his season averages of 25.0 points and 12.5 boards per game.
However, Beasley, a Player of the Year candidate, overcame a slow start to register his seventh straight double-double and 20th this season.
Baylor (17-8, 5-6) made noise earlier this season by racing out to a 16-2 record.
But, the Bears have lost four games in a row and six of their last seven, including a heartbreaking 92-91 loss to Oklahoma on Tuesday.
Oklahoma's Tony Crocker completed a four-point play to give his team a one-point lead with 7.3 seconds left in overtime. Curtis Jerrells had a chance to win the game for Baylor but missed two free throws with one second left.
