Kansas looks to remain atop Big 12

Feb 23, 2008 - 1:00 PM No. 5 Kansas (24-2) at Oklahoma St (13-12) 4:00 pm EST

STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Kansas coach Bill Self hopes that a week of rest will help his team recover from its recent road woes.

The fifth-ranked Jayhawks return from a seven-day layoff Saturday to visit Oklahoma State in a Big 12 Conference clash.

The Jayhawks (24-2, 9-2 Big 12) are tied with Texas for first place with five conference games remaining. Kansas has a winning conference record for the 19th time in as many years that the Big 12 has existed.

Kansas struggled mightily in its last road game, a 72-69 loss to the Longhorns. But the Jayhawks bounced back last Saturday with a resounding 69-45 home rout of Colorado.

Mario Chalmers scored 13 points while Darnell Jackson added 12 for Kansas, which has not lost consecutive road games since losing three straight from February 14-March 6, 2005.

The Cowboys (13-12, 4-7) also haven't played since last Saturday - a 59-54 victory at Texas A&M.

The Jayhawks lead the all-time series with the Cowboys, 101-51, and have won 12 of the last 16 meetings.
