Red-hot Connecticut seeks 11th straight win

Feb 23, 2008 - 1:14 PM No. 13 Connecticut (21-5) at Villanova (16-9) 12:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Connecticut's recent winning streak has been anything but easy.

The 13th-ranked Huskies aim for their 11th straight victory Saturday when they visit Big East Conference rival Villanova at the Wachovia Center.

During its torrid 10-game stretch, Connecticut has won by a margin of just 5.2 points per game, including just 3.4 in its last seven conference games.

The Huskies (21-5, 10-3 Big East) trailed by as many as 13 in the second half before rallying for a 65-60 victory over DePaul on Tuesday.

Hasheem Thabeet had 16 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks in the victory, while leading scorer A.J. Price was held to just six points on 1-of-7 shooting.

The Wildcats (16-9, 6-7) have won back-to-back decisive victories, including a 78-56 rout over West Virginia on Tuesday.

Dwayne Anderson had a career-high 17 points in the win while leading scorer Scottie Reynolds was held to nine.

Reynolds, who is averaging 16.3 points this season, had a career-high 40 points in Villanova's only meeting with UConn last season. Villanova won that contest, 78-74, at Connecticut.
